My parents have landed for the week. And yes, this really is how close incoming planes come. People gather at a bar and beach at the end of the runway strip to watch the planes land and take off.
They do this despite the serious warning on the signs of “extreme bodily harm and/or death.”
Luckily the whole family survived.
Ha! I used to do this in Anchorage, but we weren’t exactly that close. but it is a lot of fun to watch planes take off and land.
I would love to watch the planes.

Also makes you feel like you’re in a very small town, when you see just how many people took time our of their day to come see the planes. 🙂
